I enjoyed giving back to my community by putting together meal boxes for the families in the Pullman community. I think that the community action center makes a positive contribution to the Pullman community and its residents.

    KARINA NGUYEN

KARINA @ Volunteers in Medicine of Southern Nevada

This volunteer experience has taught me the ability to be more understanding with others and allowed me to engage with patients in a clinical setting. I learned that many patients come from various ethnic backgrounds and that physicians should do everything they can to best help the patient and understand their wants and needs. I learned that patients respond well to physicians who make the patient's voice heard, and those who take the time to communicate with patients effectively.
