ElderFriends is a volunteer-based outreach program of Full Life Care, focused on relieving isolation and loneliness among older adults in Seattle and King County by providing volunteer companionship, outreach and advocacy services.
  • Support unmatched elders and volunteers: Directly contact participants by telephone and email. Maintain contact with an assigned caseload of unmatched elder participants at least quarterly, and check in with unmatched volunteers monthly.

  • Contribute to companionship matches: Collaborate with team to identify potential volunteers and elders to pair for ongoing friendly visits, based on geography, interests, and matching preferences.

  • Support companionship matches: Following a period of shadowing, independently implement the matching process and procedures to create 2-6 pairings over the course of service (depending on duration). Provide support to these participants and any additional assigned by conducting monthly trial calls during first 3 months of match; Assist with relationship building and problem solving; Evaluate progress of relationship and assist as needed.

  • Maintain quarterly contact with matched participants by telephone or email following the 3 month trial period; Document progress of relationship in Better Impact (volunteer management software); Consult with supervisor to address concerns and resolve challenges quickly.
